Cindy Pasky, founder and CEO of Strategic Staffing Solutions, applauded her experience and community ties. Pasky said, “Detroit is ready for a woman to be mayor, but it needs to be the right woman.”
A History of Leadership
Sheffield began her political career in 2013 when she was elected to the city council at just 26 years old, becoming its youngest member. Her family has a history of advocacy. Her grandfather, Horace Sheffield Jr., was a labor activist in the United Auto Workers union, while her father, Rev. Horace Sheffield III, is a well-known community leader.
What’s Ahead for the 2025 Race
The upcoming mayoral race is expected to be competitive. Other potential candidates include former council president Saunteel Jenkins and Michigan House Speaker Joe Tate. Current Mayor Mike Duggan has confirmed he will not seek a fourth term, leaving the position open for new leadership.
