AfroFuture Detroit 2025: Music, Food, and Culture Take the Stage

AfroFuture is making its U.S. debut in Detroit this August with a weekend packed full of music, food, and culture. From Afrobeats headliners to community events across the city, this festival is set to make a major impact.

What is AfroFuture Detroit?

Making its United States debut right here in Metro Detroit, AfroFuture is a celebration of diaspora and Black creativity with the goal of promoting Black artists and entrepreneurs from around the world. AfroFuture has also done expos, dinner series, health fairs and more in the name of community and connection.

AfroFuture Detroit is being organized by Bedrock, an urban real estate company based primarily in Detroit and Cleveland.

Afrobeats Live

AfroFuture Detroit has an expansive lineup of Afrobeats artists, featuring Black artists and creatives from around the world.

Asake is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter whose music centers around Afrobeats, Fuji, street-hop, and Afro‑fusion. He is the first African artist to sell out a concert at the Barclays Center in New York City. He will be performing at AfroFuture Detroit on August 16.

Davido is a NigerianAmerican Afrobeats singer and record producer, along with being a cultural ambassador for Nigeria. He is also one of the most-followed African artists on Instagram with over 30.2 million followers (as of July 2025). He will be performing at AfroFuture Detroit on August 17.

Culture and Community

Beyond the musical performances are several cultural and communal events being held throughout the week. Sample some signature AfroFuture cocktails at one of AfroFuture’s Countdown Bar Crawls, or pull up a plate for AfroFuture’s Taste of Detroit Restaurant Week and enjoy a culinary celebration. Along with poetry and Afrocentric movie nights, AfroFuture Detroit proves it is more than a festival.

When and Where to Go

The AfroFuture Detroit music festival is on August 16-17, with other pre-festival events being held throughout that week. It will be held at Bedrock’s Douglass Site at the corner of Beaubien Boulevard and Winder Street.
